Dollar Tea Club is probably the most affordable monthly tea subscription out there. They have several affordable box options starting at $1 a month for The Explorer box, which comes with 3 tea samples at 2-3 cups each. Personally I enjoy trying the small samples to find the teas I want to stock up on. Dollar Tea Club does a lot of flavored teas, so maybe not the best option for those who prefer pure teas. You can also just order samples of any teas in stock at any time without doing a monthly subscription or add a larger pouch of a favorite tea to your next monthly box.
Other subscription options include The Sensei for the monthly tea samples and a 50g bag of tea starting at $12.70. The Sommelier has 3 options to get a subscription based on how much tea you want for the month. You can get a couple cups a week for $9 a month, one cup a day at $17, or three cups daily at $25.
You can use my referral code: REFB7V9RQHSW2 to save a $1, which means you can get your first box for the price of shipping only.
This is a great example of what the $1 box option looks like. You get three teas and a honey stick. The flavors I received are Happy Tummy, PuriTea, and Caramel Corn. I also put in an order myself after receiving this to try some more teas and it came with a little Dollar Tea Club booklet to help you keep track of what teas you like and don’t like, which I found handy. Out of these three flavors I ordered more of Happy Tummy to drink at night when I prefer fruity herbal teas. I enjoy it with a touch of honey. Caramel Corn is a black tea with a light caramel flavor and might interest those who like popcorn teas. PuriTea is just plain white tea.
I enjoyed the box sent to me enough that I decided to order a few more samples I wanted to try. I ordered Morning Mist, a fruity herbal tea: Uncle Iroh, a green jasmine tea for the best Avatar character; Eggnog Europa, a black tea inspired by Eggnog with cinnamon, ginger, and clove; and Remember Me, a black tea with apple, cornflower, linden, and mallow petals. The description of Remember Me is what caught my eye: Cherish the memories of sweet caramel ticklers as they appear at the foreground and finish with haunting Earl Grey.
Pros: Very affordable with multiple subscription tiers starting at $1 a month plus shipping. They have 30+ teas, giving those who love unique flavored teas quite a few to look forward to trying. No artificial flavors. Good for those who like surprises, and for those who don’t you can see their monthly spoiler on their site.
Cons: You don’t get to note your preferences in what you receive unless you subscribe to their higher tier boxes. All the flavored teas make this a bad choice for pure tea enthusiasts. The affordable price also means smaller samples than some other boxes.

I will leave you with this tea joke from my bag of Morning Mist. How do you ask a dinosaur to lunch? “Tea, Rex?”
