I’ve been getting Tea Runners for about a year and have been very pleased with them, but of course I look forward to trying as many tea boxes as possible. When I research new boxes I’ve noticed it can be hard to gauge what kind of teas to expect sometimes, so here is the last six months of my Tea Runners boxes and my thoughts on them overall.
Tea Runners offers several boxes (black, pure, original, and herbal) and I subscribe to the black tea box. All boxes are $25 a month, but you can customize them if there is a tea you want to try or if there is one you are scheduled to get and don’t want. So while I’m subscribed to the black box, I sometimes make customizations and all boxes below that have herbal or oolongs were customized. Each box comes with about 40 cups of loose leaf tea. I see Tea Runners as choosing elegant, traditional flavors. We get a lot of unflavored black teas from China and Nepal while Salty Caramel Pumpkin tea is about the wildest flavor I’ve gotten from them.
February 2021 box: Cinnamon Orange Red, a honeybush tea with cinnamon and orange. Red Berries, a fruity herbal tea that is tart. Black Gold Biluochun, a malty yunnan tea. And Black rose tea, a black tea with rose petals and vanilla.
January 2021: Majestic Earl Grey, Classic Laoshan black ,Dragon Claw Oolong, and Sichuan black .
December 2020: Apple Cider Black, Majestic Earl Grey, and Nepali Breakfast (this chai was my favorite of this month), Big Snow Mountain of Mengku. Note somehow I swapped about the Nepali for Sichuan in this photo.
November 2020: Apple cinnamon french toast. Kathmandu cosmos, a chai with lemongrass. Golden honey aroma yunnan. Nutcracker black, a tea with common holiday flavors like cinnamon, but with a hint of mint.
October 2020: Salty caramel pumpkin black. Mei ren. The royal emperor’s chai, and pumpkin spice oolong.
September 2020: The Queen’s Royal Blend, a black tea with floral notes. Purple needle black tea of jing mai mountain. Bengal tiger breakfast. Sweet potato Zheng shannon xiao Zheng (no sweet potato flavoring in this one despite the name).
