I have another tea box to review, Simplicity Teas. This box was gifted to me and is another one that I enjoyed enough that I will likely pop in on future boxes now and again. This loose leaf tea box has two subscription options, the $9 Mini, which is 2 teas a month (about 15-20 […]

I like switching up what boxes I get each month, and this month decided to try out Bruu. I enjoyed the initial gifted box I received and wanted to try out a true subscription. To find out more about Bruu you can check out my intro post on them here. This time I made a

The Lord of Stariel by A.J. Lancaster is book one of the Stariel series. I picked this book up over the winter holidays and fell in love with the series. So far I’ve read the first two books and I’m trying to not move right onto book 3 to pace myself while I wait for

Dollar Tea Club is probably the most affordable monthly tea subscription out there. They have several affordable box options starting at $1 a month for The Explorer box, which comes with 3 tea samples at 2-3 cups each. Personally I enjoy trying the small samples to find the teas I want to stock up on.

When I made the decision to go indie for my own books, I started reading indie authors with a newly found voracious hunger for them. I searched for books that I longed for but couldn’t seem to find enough of on traditional publishing shelves. That’s how I discovered Olivia Atwater, who just may be one

Six Months of Tea Runners

I’ve been getting Tea Runners for about a year and have been very pleased with them, but of course I look forward to trying as many tea boxes as possible. When I research new boxes I’ve noticed it can be hard to gauge what kind of teas to expect sometimes, so here is the last

Sips by VS Tea Runners

Leave a Comment / Tea / Kate Valent

Both Sips by and Tea Runners are tea subscription boxes that send you 4 teas to try each month. I enjoy drinking tea while I read, write, and edit, but I don’t want to browse stores in the middle of a pandemic, hence my latest subscription box addiction. Trying new teas has become a bit

Writer of whimsical fantasy books. Books and tea!

Happy release week to Whack Job! I was lucky enoug Happy release week to Whack Job! I was lucky enough to get an ARC from @stmartinspress This book explores the history of the axe, from regular historical use to becoming an infamous murder tool. Never thought I'd find the axe so interesting! I think books like this are fun because I always learn something unexpected about something I previously never thought much about. If you like quirky history books, check this one out.

Lost power for a few days thanks to a severe storm Lost power for a few days thanks to a severe storm, but now I'm back! It's May and I'm hoping to start making big announcements about my next book this month.

In the meantime I'm having a cozy weekend in thanks to all the rain. The gluten free carrot cake bread is a Loopy Whisk recipe and delicious. The tea is New England Breakfast, a black tea with maple.

As for the books, A Harvest of Hearts felt like a dark romantasy version of Howl's, The Chamber gripped me right up until the ending that didn't hit quite right, and The Wood at Midwinter is a very short story but has lovely artwork.

I'm finishing up edits and plan to announce a release date and pre-order when they are finished. Newsletter subscribers will get the news first, so be sure to sign up if you want reminders and an ARC. Subscribers have already gotten a peek at my next two books.
